Job Overview:

Comcast is in the process of constructing an in-house Virtual Assistant utility for use by Comcast customers across multiple channels. The XFINITY Virtual Assistant (code name "aiQ") will transform Comcast's customer experience by using natural language processing in conjunction with artificial intelligence and machine learning to deliver informed, personalized customer service solutions while reducing cost and increasing efficacy.

Job Summary:

Within the context of the aiQ program, this role will be responsible for managing one or two cross-functional DevOps Scrum teams focused on integrating the Virtual Assistant back office platform with new Channels such as Android, Facebook Messenger, and more. The candidate will be directly responsible for end-to-end delivery including architecture, design, development, deployment, testing, and support for these activities. Additionally, the candidate will oversee a number of employees and contractors and will be responsible for the performance, growth, and career development of those employees.

Core Responsibilities:

-Directly managing one or two teams (approx. 5-10 Engineers including full time employees and contractors), providing regular feedback and coaching regarding both job performance and career development

-Overseeing the development and release of enhancements, new features and modifications to new and existing channels

-Providing guidance to engineering team and other departments in identifying product and technical requirements

-Serving as a primary point of contact and liaison between engineering and other teams

-Partnering with constituent teams and technical leads to ensure teams follow SDLC processes and conventions, enabling success of applications' release schedules

-Serving as product owner including definition of features, user stories, and roadmap for the team and ensuring compliance to the overall portfolio management process

-Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.

-Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.

-Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

-Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

-Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills:


-Relational/SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)

-Messaging (JMS, Kafka)


-Agile/Scrum Experience

-People & Performance Management

Recommended Skills:

-PaaS (Cloud Foundry) a plus

-Public Cloud (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) a plus

-Experience integrating with AI/ML or NLP (such as solutions a big plus

Education Level: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent; Master's Degree or MBA Preferred

Field of Study: Engineering, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Management

Years Experience: Generally requires 7-11 years related experience
